What are CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast?

CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast are highly purified human collagen injectables. These collagen implants are meant to provide volume and lift for wrinkles and scars on the face; these injections provide a safe, natural alternative to synthetic and bovine fillers.

A good candidate for collagen injections is someone who has:

  • Undefined lip borders
  • Fine lines
  • Deep facial wrinkles
  • Frown lines
  • Acne scars
  • Vertical lines above lips (“smokers’ lines”)
Collagen

Risks:

Due to the manner in which these dermal fillers are created, there is very little risk of complications; however, there is a chance the patient may experience skin peeling and lumpiness around the target area. Allergic reaction is very minimal because it is derived directly from human collagen.  Also, pain should be minimal because they contain an anesthetic in order to numb the area that is being treated and lessen discomfort.

How are dermal fillers administered?

At the Women’s Institute of Cosmetic & Laser Surgery, an RN will inject CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast just below the skin’s surface to provide volume to wrinkles and creases. CosmoDerm is used to treat fine lines, while CosmoPlast is used for deep furrows and scars. Combined, both provide near immediate results for the patient.

After the treatment:

There is no downtime, and patients will be able to return to their regular daily activities soon thereafter the procedure. The effects of CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast usually last six to nine months. Should you wish to maintain your youthful appearance, touch-up injections are necessary.

Contact the Women’s Institute for Cosmetic and Laser Surgery to schedule your consultation. Our highly trained staff will guide you through all the different treatment options available to you.
