Brow Lift or Eyelid Surgery – When it comes to correcting droopy skin around the eyes, many women consider cosmetic surgery. But how do you choose a procedure that’s the right one for you? There are a couple main options to restoring brighter, younger looking eyes: a brow lift or an eyelid lift.

Brow Lift or Eyelid Surgery

Let’s take a look at these two very effective cosmetic procedures:

Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift can correct a number of facial flaws. It firms up the skin on the forehead as well as on the eyebrow area. It also softens and smooths the appearance of a “furrowed” brow that can cause a permanent expression of worry or frustration. Sagging skin around the eyes is also tightened as part of a brow lift. Typically, a brow lift is performed with minimal incisions – which means minimal scarring too. Very small incisions applied just above the hairline permit Dr. Hein to tighten the skin on the forehead and diminish wrinkles.

Officially called blepharoplasty, an eyelid lift involves removal of extra skin and fatty tissue around the eyes. An eyelid lift can be performed for cosmetic or medical reasons for correction of affected vision because of excess skin. Eyelid surgery “opens” the eyes to make them appear brighter and more youthful. On the lower eyelid, cosmetic surgery can also decrease dark circles under the eyes too.

If your eyebrows are in a favorable position but your upper eyelids are sagging, you could be a good candidate for eyelid surgery. Alternatively, if your forehead and brows are lined and creased but you don’t have excess skin around your eyes, then an eyebrow lift may be the solution for you.

Note that for some patients, a combination of both procedures may be the best way to create a balanced, revitalized appearance that resolves facial flaws.
