Eyelid Surgery – Blepharoplasty
For many women, one of the first signs of aging starts becomes apparent around the eyes. Because of the importance of the eyes in our overall facial appearance, it’s something that’s obviously more likely to draw notice and cause feelings of self-consciousness.

Some of these signs can include laxity of the skin and the formation of wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, as well as puffiness of the eyelids. In addition, as the skin gradually shifts downward, depressions can appear around the lower eyelids too. There is no distinct age at which these changes become noticeable, but commonly in their 40s or 50s women can start to experience various degrees of aging around the eyes.

Please call our offices today and schedule a no-obligation consultation with us. At this initial session together, Dr. Hein and our experienced staff will listen to your concerns, and then conduct an evaluation to help determine if eyelid surgery is the solution for you. You’ll be provided with all the information needed on things like pre and post procedure care, possible risks, and practical expectations for this procedure.
Eyelid surgery is typically done on an outpatient basis. Patients are administered either a local or a general anesthesia, which can depend in part if another procedure is to be performed in conjunction with the eyelid surgery.
Upper or Lower Eyelids
Depending on the patient, only the upper or lower lids alone may be addressed, but usually both lids are done during the procedure, which typically takes one or two hours. Your plastic surgeon removes the excess skin and fat from the lids and may tighten them if necessary. After eyelid surgery, cold compresses placed on your eyes will help reduce swelling. Following a short recovery period at our facility, you’ll be ready to go home! Eye drops are prescribed for some patients, but for the majority there is minimal discomfort.
