Do you find yourself looking in the mirror and wondering what could look better? You’ve tried getting more sleep, applying makeup, special creams and taking vitamins but still appear tired and drained – there seems to be no solution.

However, once you start to learn more about the benefits of eyelid surgery, you’ll soon see that there is a solution that can rejuvenate your face and restore your confidence. Before calling our facility to schedule a consultation, ask yourself the following questions:

Do I have loose or sagging skin that creates folds on my upper eyelid? Are my upper eyelids puffy? Is there excess skin and fine wrinkles on the sides of my eyes that Botox does not seem to help anymore?

If the answer is YES then you’re ready for a consultation. A consultation should be a comfortable, informative experience. The answers you’re seeking are determined by your overall health and a physical exam, the condition of your eyes based upon your most recent eye exam and your expectations.

After your consultation, you may be a candidate for upper eyelid surgery. Typically, this type of cosmetic surgery is performed under local anesthesia. Prior to the procedure, you’ll eat breakfast and then proceed to the surgery center. Once there, you’ll talk with the nurse and be given medication to help you relax. The time of surgery is usually about one hour after your preparation. During the procedure, you’ll be awake but relaxed and comfortable. After the surgery you’ll be set to go home and relax with ice packs to sooth any inflammation and free to binge on Netflix!

You’ll be able to wear glasses if needed and to go about your daily routine – minus heavy activities for the next week – making sure to take proper care of your incisions. Stitches and sutures are typically removed one week after the surgery. Once the healing process is complete, you be able to apply makeup to cover up any bruising. You’ll also be able to resume exercise and regular activities.

Soon you’ll be welcoming the “new you” when you look in the mirror. A refreshed, energized and bright- eyed you that you’ll be happy to see!

Known as blepharoplasty, upper eyelid surgery basically involves the following: you note that you’ve developed excess skin on your upper eyelids and are not happy with how it affects your appearance.

Then, schedule a consultation at the Women’s Institute of Cosmetic & Laser Surgery where you’ll learn about upper eyelid surgery and whether you’re a good candidate. If so, we’ll schedule your surgery and provide instructions for preparation. Before too long the day of the procedure will arrive and you’ll undergo the innovative surgery that will refresh your appearance. Before going home you’ll be provided with after-care instructions.

The main benefits of upper eyelid surgery include:

  • -It brightens your face, resulting in a more rested and younger appearance.
  • -Improved self-confidence.
  • -It can improve your vision in the event that sagging skin is prohibiting or partially obstructing your peripheral vision.
  • -It can decrease but not fully eliminate the wrinkles around your eyes commonly known as “crow’s feet”. (Note that there are other effective facial cosmetic procedures for these conditions.)

Anytime of the year is a good time to have the surgery. Most important is your ability to relax and recover properly. Ideally, upper eyelid surgery should be performed a minimum of six weeks before an important event such as a wedding, reunion, graduation, vacation or holiday activities.
