The Benefits of Sublative Skin Rejuvenation – Women’s Institute of Cosmetic & Laser Surgery
Sublative skin rejuvenation is a minimally invasive, non-surgical skin tightening procedure. Very effective for wrinkle reduction, it utilizes two different mechanisms that require practically no downtime and a quick recovery. The goal of this innovative procedure is to improve the smoothness and texture of facial and neck skin. Unlike conventional fraxel lasers, which is used to remove and resurfaces soft skin tissue, sublative skin rejuvenation provides a deeper penetration of energy into facial skin where the majority of collagen production occurs without impacting the epidermis.
Sublative skin rejuvenation is a cosmetic treatment that involves application of a single-use tip that’s attached to the applicator component of our Syneron Elos Plus platform. The sublative applicator directs bipolar radio frequency energies into the skin via a grid of 64 electrodes. As a result, the treated skin tissue is injured to a degree while the surrounding skin remains unaffected. This precision is what allows the treatment to help heal the injured skin while requiring minimal or zero downtime. The radio frequency serves to tighten and rejuvenate the skin and help produce new collagen production. It also is very effective for reducing acne scars, oversized pores, wrinkles, fine lines brown spots and uneven skin texture.
The entire sublative skin rejuvenation procedure typically takes between 20 and 30 minutes. Sublative differs from other varieties of laser skin treatments in that it can be used to treat practically any skin type: whether light or dark, dry or oily.
After a skin rejuvenation treatment, it is fairly common to experience some amount of redness and mild swelling in the treated areas. It will usually start to show improvement within three to five days for most. For optimal results, we generally recommend three or four skin rejuvenation treatments at three to four week intervals.
